The Best Way of Choosing the Right ECU Chip Tuning Tools?

This post is about how to choose the right ECU chip tuning tools. Before we begin our topic, i wanna ask you several questions. Did you ever feel confused when you need to get the ECU chip tuning tools you need? Have you had a headache when you choose the ECU chip tuning tools? Did you really know which kinds of ECU chip tuning tools can be better used to your vehicle makes and models in the condition that there are full of a variety of ECU chip tuning tools? Don't worry, All the words, includes KTAG, KESS, CMD or BDM100, is on the point of clearance only if you read the article carefully.

From where i stand, you need to know there are four ways to program vehicle ECU based on your vehicles year and ECU types before we start our topic.

One: Flashing ECU via OBD2 communnication port

Two: Flashing ECU via a special BDM port that is on the ECU's mainboard

Three: Flashing the ECU in boot mode, on the table

Four: Soldering the EEPROM out of the ECU and reprogramming ECU

Well, we will start to have a knowleadge of the methods of ECU programming, at this time, you may worry where to find the corresponding reprogramming tools, there we go!

1. Flashing ECU via OBD

First, you can flash almost all ECU from 2000 to 2008 (and many of them even after 2008) via OBD port. What you need to do is that you must own an OBD flash tool, connect the tool with car via OBD, also, you should ensure that give your car’s battery stable getting to 12V power supply. Only in this way, can you read out ECU and flash the tuning file over the cable. It is a very useful way to reprogram ECU, easy and fast.

2. Flashing ECU via BDM

A variety of vehicle ECU from 2002 to 2008 (and some later) have a special communication port on the mainboard which is called as a BDM port.  Wanna access to this port? You must do one easy thing, you need to take the ECU out of the car and open it. In this way ECU will receive a stable 12V power, and can be flashed over and over again. At the same time, this is most safe way for ECU programming. And you can also backup if some problems appears with the flashing via OBD.

3. Flashing ECU via Boot Mode

It is necessary for you to take ECU out of the vehicles, plus, program it on the table when connecting special cables to the ECU’s connector pins. What's more, you also should do some soldering at some times, like adding resistors to the mainboard.

4. Flashing via soldering EEPROM

This method can be used to older car ECU and a hefty dose of truck ECU. There is a need for you to take out the ECU, just open it and desolder out the EEPROM chip. Well, we have made a success, then you can read EEPROM chip using an EEPROM programmer. After read, file is modified and then programmed back on a chip (or on a new, empty one). Then you solder the chip back into the ECU.

In my opinion, you must be suddenly enlightened after you read out this article, at least, there is no exaggerate to say for us that it is better than we never encounterd this news.
